YUFE President Leads Delegation to Laos and Thailand to Bolster International Education

From December 18th to 24th, Professor Wang Min, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee and President of Yunnan University of Finance and Economics (YUFE), led a delegation on a visit to multiple universities in Laos and Thailand, achieving fruitful results. This visit aimed to further deepen cooperative relations with universities in Southeast Asian countries along the "Belt and Road," and to construct a new model of international education oriented towards South and Southeast Asia.

During their time in Laos, the delegation visited the Lao-China Cooperation Committee, engaging in in-depth exchanges with Mr. Khampheng Lamaninh, Deputy Director of the General Office of the Lao-China Cooperation Committee. Both sides reached a consensus on issues such as conducting vocational training services in Laos, Lao government officials studying and training in China, and providing policy consulting services. They also held discussions with the Lao Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Chinese-funded enterprises in Laos to understand the investment and operation of these enterprises and explore future cooperation opportunities in education. The delegation also visited the Saysettha Development Zone for on-site inspections and held a meeting with YUFE alumni in Laos.

During the visit to the National University of Laos, President Wang Min and the President of the National University of Laos, Dr. Dexanoulath Sendouangdeth, had in-depth discussions on the feasibility of jointly establishing the Vientiane Business School. They reached a preliminary cooperation intention on jointly conducting undergraduate and master's double degree programs. After the meeting, the delegation visited the "Laos Digital Business Talent Training Base," which was funded and assisted by YUFE.

During the visit to Thailand, the delegation visited Phetchabun Rajabhat University, Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, and the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) in Thailand. On December 22nd, the university signed a cooperation agreement with Phetchabun Rajabhat University on a master's degree program in business administration, marking a new milestone in the cooperation between the two universities in the field of business administration education. Both sides also held in-depth consultations on jointly establishing an International Business School Alliance and jointly unveiled the plaque for the Phetchabun Teaching Site of the YUFE Bangkok Business School.

On December 23rd, the delegation held in-depth discussions with Dr. Chatree Maneekosol, President of Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, on strengthening cooperation and exchanges between the two sides, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Both universities will complement each other's educational resources through exchanges of teachers and students and the joint formulation of training programs, providing students with a broader learning platform.

On December 24th, the delegation held talks with the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) in Thailand on educational cooperation and exchanges, scientific research cooperation, and cultural exchanges and cooperation, expressing their intention to share educational resources and strengthen exchanges and cooperation in research, culture, and other fields.

Yu Yong, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and Dean of the School of Overseas Education, Zhang Ling, Director of the Office of Social Cooperation and Director of the Alumni Affairs Office, Chen Pengjian, Head of the Information Section of the General Office, and Zhang Jin, a teacher of international student management at the School of Overseas Education, accompanied the delegation on the visit.
